Computer to phone.
Keep it local.

Choose files. Prepare a share. Scan in DropLAN.

Start on your computer.

The computer sender is a developer preview. This public website cannot start a local service for you. You need the local project and Node.js 22 or newer; a public desktop installer is not available yet.

1

Prepare the local project

You need an existing local DropLANWeb project and Node.js 22+. No public installer is available yet; the Android app alone is not enough.

2

Double-click to start

On Windows, double-click Start-DropLAN.cmd in the project. It starts the sender and opens the page. First-run dependencies need internet. Keep its window open.

3

Join the same network

Connect your computer and phone to the same reachable Wi-Fi or hotspot. Install DropLAN on Android.

Other systems / manual start
npm ci
npm start

Cannot open it? Check that npm start is still running and open the address below on that same computer. Your phone scans a LAN address, not 127.0.0.1.

No cloud upload. Same-network sharing only. Use the DropLAN Android app to scan this code; it is not a browser download link.

      Setup, network and file handling

The local sender is currently a developer preview, requiring Node.js 22 or newer and a local copy of the DropLANWeb project.

      1. In the project folder, run npm ci once to install the sender dependencies.
      2. Run npm start. Open http://127.0.0.1:48765/send/ on the computer.
      3. Connect the computer and Android phone to the same reachable Wi-Fi or hotspot. Select the correct network address if several are available.
      4. Select files or a folder and the desired format. Scan the generated QR with the DropLAN app, approve access on the computer, then select a save location on the phone.

The local sender uses local HTTP, not encrypted HTTPS. Use a trusted private network. Allow it through the firewall only for that trusted network. Do not expose the port to the internet.

Original-file mode lists folder files individually; the current Android receiver saves them without recreating subfolders. Choose ZIP to preserve folder structure. Empty folders are not included. Desktop preview limits: 1,000 files, 20 GiB of selected data, up to two simultaneous file responses and one per receiving session. ZIP output also has a 20 GiB cap and requires extra disk space. Compression can increase size.

The QR is valid for 10 minutes. Refreshing it invalidates old unapproved invitations; already approved sessions remain until ended or expired. Idle sessions expire after 10 minutes; approved sessions have a two-hour maximum. Keep the computer awake. Ending sharing revokes access and interrupts downloads. Temporary copies are removed on clean exit; after a crash, remove only the sender-created temporary directories if needed.

This is the local DropLAN protocol, independent of Google Quick Share. Desktop browser and protocol tests are not real-device scan or wireless acceptance.
